"First of all thank you to Holiday helpers for helping families like us get a little holiday where we can just take a breather and enjoy being with our family. When my family and I got picked to go to Waiheke Island for the weekend,all expenses paid,we felt truly blessed!just to have a few days away meant that our we could actually just have fun with our girls!
Our daughter Ava-Grace has a condition called MMIHS Megacystis Microcolon Hyperperistalsis Intestinal Syndrome. In english it pretty much means Small bowels and big bladder! She is one of two in New Zealand that has this condition. We knew very early on in my pregnancy that there was something wrong with her but it was not until she was born,is when she was diagnosed a day after she was born after a long 5 hour surgery. Ava-Grace is a bright and sassy 4 year old who definitely knows what she wants. Her life does consist of hospital stays from days, weeks even months! The last 4 years has been challenging for our family but we manage to get through. Our trip to Waiheke was so refreshing for our family. First day we got there the house we stayed in was so beautiful,spacious and felt like home away from home.
Our eldest daughter Ariella (8) would not stop pestering us about going swimming, so we walked to the beach which was only a 2 min walk away and my husband and daughter went for a nice swim and we got home to get ready for dinner! What I liked most about this trip was that everything was so close just walking distance. Saturday we walked around the town and I was blessed to have a full body massage being pregnant at the time (still am) meant I got to relax and just have an hour to myself!I felt so relaxed and I thank so much for making me feel so comfortable and being so lovely. We were so lucky to have lunch at a new restaurant that just opened up in town and their food was sooo good! The duty manager on that day and she was absolutely lovely. Good customer service ,good food. Their pancakes were the bomb,as my daughter described it haha we really enjoyed ourselves and would definitely go back when we get the chance to come back again! We got to have nice gelato ice cream as well my family are big ice cream fans so we also loved the amazing flavours they had to offer
Overall our trip to Waiheke Island was amazing,as it was our first time going there,we didn't know what to expect. We were so blown away by the generosity of holiday helpers and we are truly blessed to experience such an amazing time away."
